★★★★★

"I'd been paying the same assessment for six years and just assumed it was right. Turned out I was overpaying by almost $1,400 a year. The whole process took maybe ten minutes on my end."

Lee W.
Flushing, Queens
★★★★★

"We bought our house in 2021 at the height of the market and our assessment never came back down. TaxTrim got it reduced and we're saving $1,900 this year. Wish I'd done it sooner."

Marcus B.
Saratoga Springs, Saratoga County
★★★★★

"I was skeptical because I tried grieving on my own two years ago and got nowhere. TaxTrim knew exactly which comps to use and the county reduced my assessment on the first try."

Patricia O.
Yonkers, Westchester County
★★★★★

"Retired on a fixed income and every dollar counts. My neighbor mentioned TaxTrim and I figured why not. Got $1,100 back effectively — that's groceries for two months."

Frank D.
Rochester, Monroe County
★★★★★

"The property report alone was worth it. I didn't realize how much comparable sales data existed or that my assessment was that far out of line. Very transparent process."

Alicia R.
Port Washington, Nassau County
★★★★★

"I own a two-family and had no idea you could grieve the assessment on that type of property. TaxTrim handled it, got a reduction, and now I'm saving on both units."

James W.
Buffalo, Erie County
Questions

Frequently asked questions.

What is a property tax grievance? +
A property tax grievance is a formal challenge to your property's assessed value. If your home is assessed higher than its actual market value, you're overpaying taxes. Filing a grievance with your Board of Assessment Review can get your assessment reduced — and your taxes lowered permanently.
How do I know if I'm overassessed? +
The best way to check is to compare your assessed value against what similar homes in your neighborhood recently sold for. If comparable homes are selling for less than your assessed value implies, you likely have a strong case. TaxTrim does this analysis automatically when you sign up.
What is the deadline to file in New York? +
Grievance Day in most Nassau County municipalities is the third Tuesday in May. Suffolk County and other municipalities vary. You can sign up with TaxTrim any time of year — if the current deadline has passed, we'll queue your case for the next filing season and notify you well in advance.
What if my grievance is denied? +
If the Board of Assessment Review denies or partially denies your grievance, you have the option to escalate to Small Claims Assessment Review (SCAR). TaxTrim offers SCAR representation at 30% of first-year savings — and you only pay if you win.
Do I need to appear at any hearings? +
No. For the initial BAR grievance, TaxTrim handles everything — the research, the forms, and the submission. You don't need to appear anywhere. If your case escalates to SCAR, we handle representation for you as well.
Can I file again next year? +
Absolutely. Property tax grievances can be filed every year. Many homeowners file annually. As a TaxTrim customer, we'll reach out each year before the deadline so you never miss another opportunity to save.
